Shooting young Tasmanian outfit Powderkeg on the weekend at Sam Thomas’ film premiere was a lot of fun. They always bring the vibe!

@wildsouthernbrewing support the boys and we’ll be making lots more content very soon!

In the meantime, shots in this reel were shot with the shutter wide open @ 8fps in 6K resolution to create the motion blur effect on the #RedDragon 🎥 then slowed down to 20% of normal speed in post production. Other shots were in 6K @ 83 fps and others were just plain 24 fps….

It’s a weird world now where videos all up vertical but we embrace it and have resolution to burn.

GETTING THE SHOT 👌🏽

It was an early start, we needed to be there before sunrise to get the shot that I had planned with this campaign.

The #BrunyIsland ferry took us across the channel in the dark and we made our way to the location. It was in the middle of winter ❄️ so you know it was cold.

Assembling my #RedDragon & #Ronin in the fresh dark of the morning needed to be done promptly as that big fire ball in the sky was on its way to breaching the horizon ☀️

Everything was ready to go, so we waited. We rehearsed and I shot a few takes just to keep moving and be ready for when ‘the moment’ came.

The idea was to have the talent silhouetted against the beautiful colours of a morning sky that comes with the northerly winds, to visually demonstrate her connection the Country (Country, Sea Country & Sky Country all in one!) I’d been watching the forecast for a week or so and had decided that this morning would bring the desired conditions needed to make for an impactful shot.

The universe delivered 💫

Shots like this don’t happen by accident. There’s preparation, commitment, knowledge and execution.
